We hope you enjoyed your summer in Luling, Louisiana. Now it’s time to start thinking about fall and how it will affect your home. Prepare yourself for the upcoming drop in temperatures by taking the following precautions before summer ends.
Change Your Air Filter
Ideally, you should replace your air filter at least every couple of months. The end of summer is a great time to do so, as your filter has probably collected a lot of pollen and other debris from flowering plants. Even if you’ve recently changed your filter, check to make sure it’s not dirty. Dirty filters restrict the flow of air, causing your HVAC system to overwork.
Have Your HVAC System Inspected
In addition to changing your air filter, you should also schedule an appointment to have your HVAC system professionally inspected. One of our technicians will check for any issues with your system so we can make repairs before they get out of hand. Keep in mind that it’s easier to fix a problem with your heating system while it’s still warm rather than in the middle of winter.
Clean Your Outdoor Unit
The outdoor unit of your HVAC system probably sees a lot of debris throughout the summer season. Flower petals, seed pods, and even cut grass can accumulate on top of the grill, limiting airflow and potentially clogging the system. Removing this debris and giving the grill a good cleaning can help your system work more efficiently. You should also try to protect your unit from the upcoming onslaught of falling leaves. Place a protective fence or barrier around the unit to try and keep as many leaves away as possible.
