Life is fun in New Orleans, Louisiana, but it can also get expensive, and getting a new heating system is a pretty major expense. Luckily, homeowners here have several options when it comes to rebates on new heating systems, meaning you can stay comfortable in the coming winter while also saving money wherever you can. Take a look at these different rebate options for new heating systems in Louisiana.

Federal Rebates and Incentives

On the federal level, you can take advantage of tax credits for using renewable energy products like geothermal heat pumps. These credits come from the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018, which is still open to homeowners until Dec. 31, 2021. Through this program, the tax credits are broken down as follows:

  • 30% for systems installed by 12/31/2019.
  • 26% for systems installed after 12/31/2019 and before 01/01/2021.
  • 22% for systems installed after 12/31/2020 and before 01/01/2022.

These credits apply to both existing homes and new constructions. Your new geothermal heat pump must meet the ENERGY STAR requirements that are in effect when you buy it, and these tax credits include installation costs.

Manufacturer Rebates

Brands like American Standard offer up a searchable list of what rebates homeowners can get on select products of theirs, including their wide array of heat pumps. Under their Rebates section on their website, just enter in your ZIP code and what category of heating system you’re searching for. They’ll show you the options for residential rebate programs that can range all the way up to $500.

State-Level Options

For Louisiana residents, Energy Solutions offers various rebates for homeowners taking the steps to make their homes as energy-efficient as possible. Rebate offers include:

  • AC tuneup: $150 rebate.
  • Heat pump: up to $250 per system.
  • Ductless heat pump: up to $500 per system.
  • Attic insulation: up to 40 cents per square foot.
